The international seminar “Seismic performance, analysis, and design of non-structural components in tall buildings” was organized by the Chilean Association on Seismology and Earthquake Engineering (ACHISINA) and the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering from the Universidad Católica de Chile. Eduardo Miranda, Professor at the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, Stanford University, Diego Lopez-Garcia, Associate Professor and Chair at the Department of Structural and Geotechnical Engineering, Universidad Católica de Chile, and Rodrigo Astroza, Assistant Professor at the Faculty of Engineering and Applied Sciences, Universidad de los Andes, discussed about the methods of analysis to determine the seismic demands on non-structural components and contents, observed behavior during experimental tests and past earthquakes, and provisions in current Chilean and US codes. More than 100 participant attended the seminar, including people from academia, students and engineers.
