Researchers from the Universidad de los Andes and the University of Chile shared the findings of a reconnaissance trip to Mexico following the September 19, 2017 Puebla-Morelos Earthquake. The team spent one week in Mexico and included professor Rodrigo Astroza (Universidad de los Andes) and three professors from the University of Chile (Francisco Hernandez, Felipe Ochoa-Cornejo, and Cesar Pasten). The seminar was organized by the Department of Civil Engineering of the University of Chile and the presentations given were:
- Seismological, geological, and geotechnical aspects (professor Cesar Pasten)
- Regional subsidence and site effects (professor Felipe Ochoa-Cornejo)
- Damage in the epicentral area and preliminary analysis of recorded ground motions (professor Rodrigo Astroza)
- Early warning system, damage in Mexico City, and seismic design code.
