On June 27, 2023, we started the 2nd version of the continuing education program “Performance Based Seismic Design”. Professor Jose I. Restrepo, a world-renowned researcherer in the field of seismic analysis and modeling of reinforced concrete structures from the University of California, San Diego, gave the inaugural presentation.

In this program, we cover topics related to performance based seismic design, including seismic hazard, nonlinear modeling techinques, applications to reinforced concrete and steel structures, non-structural components, and loss analysis. The instructors are structural engineers Miguel Medalla (Ph.D. (c)), Mario Lafontaine, David Ugalde (Ph.D.), and Rodrigo Astroza (Ph.D.). In this second version, structural engineers from Guatemala, Dominican Republic, Honduras, Peru, Colombia, and Chile are participating in the program.
